HP's fingerprint reading software uses your biometric fingerprint to provide an additional layer of security to your notebook or laptop instead of passwords alone. It can also be used to access your other personal online accounts including email and personal banking.
If you are having trouble installing your driver, you should use the Driver Update Utility for DigitalPersona. It is a software utility that automatically finds, downloads and installs the right driver for your system. You can even backup your drivers before making any changes, and revert back in case there were any problems. You can safely update all of your drivers in just a few clicks. Once you download and run the utility, it will scan for out-of-date or missing drivers:

I have an HDX 18t. It came with windows vista x64 and I upgraded to windows 7 x64. After the upgrade the built in digital persona fingerprint reader stopped working. The fingerprint reader was not detected. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and updating the drivers. Currently I have the latest software for the fingerprint reader installed (4.11.3826). The icon for the fingerprint reader has the "x" on it indicating that the reader is not detected.
I followed the instructions for part A on installing Validity fingerprint driver and DigitalPersona Personal software. However, after my computer rebooted a message appeared and said "the fingerprint reader could not be detected. Please reinstall using the application and driver recovery disk that came with your system."
First of all, did you run the Microsoft upgrade adviser ? Did you uninstall all of the finger print reader software before you did the upgrade and for that matter any other incompatible programs and drivers ?
I tried going through those steps several times. Each time I installed the digital persona software it said my reader could not be detected, and that I should install the reader with the application and driver software that came with my system.
Upon installation the app runs a 'Getting Started' wizard that walks you through the necessary steps to set up the fingerprint reader and your login account details. Additionally, each time you open it, the software will verify your identity with an enrolled fingerprint or with the previously selected logon password.
This software is not supported on Value Line desktops or Value Line notebooks with integrated fingerprint reader. ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software is a desktop security and convenience product. Its components provide a sophisticated security architecture protecting your computer from attacks by unauthorized persons. ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software offers top-level user convenience, it is easy to install and easy to use. ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software enables:
Standby problem: The computer can be awakened from standby using the fingerprint reader even if Allow this device to bring PC out of standby is unchecked. The driver is not able to turn off remote wakeup when remote wakeup is disabled and selective suspend is enabled in the device manager. Both check boxes must be unchecked for the correct behavior.
You can purchase a reader Online. You will also need to download the software from us, which includes the Fingerprint Reader software and the Driver for it. The software can be downloaded here. The software will only work on a Windows-based computer that has a free standard-sized USB port. We also recommend you download the Quick Install Guide and the Maintenance Guide which is in the same area of the Help section. The cost of the software is free.
I then installed the SDK on an older Windows 10 installation (64 bit, 1709 Build 16299). The sample applications ran, but when the scanner window launches, it does not detect the connected fingerprint reader. I tried switching the device driver from "U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Reader (WBF)" to the normal "U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Reader" but it didn't help.
As a result, I am neither able to use the code samples given with the SDK, nor able to use the demo file provided by the plugin, because the plugin isn't getting detected. I thought maybe the device was faulty, but it is working fine with Windows Hello fingerprint sign-in (using the WBF driver), as well as with the TimeDrop software (using the simple, non-WBF driver). The SDK is working with neither of these drivers.
I'm trying to install the DigitalPersona fingerprint driver using Driver Wizard, the problem is, the fingerprint reader works fine before installing with Driver Wizard(means you can still tab your finger on the reader and it responds well)But after Driver Wizard completed the installation, the fingerprint reader is not functioned anymore(you tab finger on it, and no response).
In this post, an updated, advert free direct download link will provided for both the 32bits version of the DigitalPersona fingerprint device driver and as well the 64Bits version of the DigitalPersona driver.
NOTE: The WebSkd library requires DigitalPersona Agent running on a client machine. This agent provides a secure communication channel between a browser and a fingerprint or card device driver. The DigitalPersona Agent is a part of a HID DigitalPersona Workstation. It can be also installed with a DigitalPersona Lite Client. If you expect your users do not use HID DigitalPersona Workstation, you may need to provide your users with a link to the Lite Client download, which you should show on a reader communication error:
*In Windows 10, the Windows Biometric Framework (WBF) provides support for fingerprint biometric devices through a new set of components. Only use the WBF drivers if your software uses the WBF interface or you want to use the built in biometric logon in Windows 10. Please check with your software vendor for further information. 2ff7e9595c
